Title News Mobile air quality research stations have left for Šilutė and Nida
Evaluation
In response to repeated requests from residents about the air quality in Šilute, where the smell of burning can be felt, the Environmental Protection Agency is investigating the air quality in Šilute and Nida. Mobile air quality research stations have set out to study air quality.
Concentrations of pollutants released during combustion (solid particles, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, volatile organic compounds) in the ambient air will be investigated. It is planned that the tests will be carried out for several days, until the middle of next week.
Two stationary air quality research stations are installed in Klaipėda. No recent increase in the amount of pollutants has been recorded in them.
Specialists of the National Public Health Center warn that the ambient air may contain substances harmful to health and advise to take precautions while the smell of burning is felt outside, especially for more sensitive people – those with chronic diseases, children, pregnant women, etc.
Until it is determined whether the concentrations of pollutants in the ambient air do not exceed the maximum allowed concentrations, we advise you to spend as much time as possible indoors, monitor your health, and consult a doctor if you feel unwell.
