One of the places visited in Anykščiai – the six-trunked oak of Elmė – could not withstand the wind and rain.
The impressive natural monument Elmė’s six-trunked oak has lost two trunks. One of the living trunks and one that had already withered earlier broke. It is true that, although two were lost, the oak tree will have five trunks, because the withered trunk was not counted.
About the oak tree. In 2003, at the suggestion of the Anykščiai Regional Park Directorate, Elmė’s six-trunked oak was declared a natural heritage object protected by the municipality. The tree has 6 trunks, the 7th trunk is dead. The circumference at the base of the trunk is 766 cm.
